Penryn

Falmouth & Penryn at a glance

Penryn, is one of the neighbouring towns of Falmouth and one of the most historic towns in Cornwall. Once the main port on the river with a thriving trade in fish, tin and copper, Penryn became overshadowed by the huge growth of Falmouth. But with a fascinating timeline of history and buildings dating back to the Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian times this peaceful town exhibits some of Cornwall's most treasured gems. From a thriving creative arts community, magical woodland, boutique shops, bespoke cafes and beautiful scenery Penryn provides an eclectic mix of imagination and charm.

Tidemill House is situated on Falmouth's Events Square which plays host to such scenes as the annual Falmouth Oyster Festival. Shanty Festivals, BBC's Antique Roadshow, Arts & Crafts Beach Hut markets to the Fal Fish Festivals and Falmouth Week which can be seen in the video opposite; not to mention Ellen McArthur's victorious return from her record breaking Round the World Voyage.
